During 11/05-11/09, I fortunately got the chance to National Taiwan University (NTU) for the 65th PSJ acadamic conference. This is my first time to Taipei and I was interested to go there.
We arrived at Taipei Taoyuan Airport at around 12:00 and spent another two hours on going to our hotel. The city environment of Taipei is comfortable because of the clean streets and warm weather. Taipei became a developed city for 2 or 3 decades, so the buildings seemed to be with a sense of age.
We spent two days in NTU and each student showed our poster in the conference. The audiences included the local researchers and researchers from Japan, so we have to deal with their questions with three languages, English, Japanese and Chinese, and it was quite an exercise for the oral skills.
The typical Taiwan foods are also delicious. Especially for us that come from China mainland, the taste of Taiwan food is quite similar to the Minnan (閩南, a cultural subregion of Southeast China) style and it was easy for all of us to accept it. The typical braised pork rice, beef noodles, tapioca-pearl milk tea and Minnan-style cuisine, all of them was fantastic.
Due to the political seperation between China Mainland and Taiwan, most people from Chinese mainland might be curious about Taiwan daily life. In Taipei Palace Museum and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial,  there are many historical relics and treasures which was often seen in the middle-school History textbook of China mainland, and we finally saw them. So I am really glad to have this communication in Taiwan, which could improve the mutual understand between the both sides of Taiwan Strait.
